Largest Country In Central America

By Simon Under Geography

There is some debate over what the largest country in Central America is, as Central America is defined as some as including Mexico and also defined by others as not including Mexico.

If Central America does include Mexico, than the largest country in Central America is Mexico. However, if you do not take Mexico as being part of Central America, then Nicaragua is the largest country in Central America.

Mexico covers an area of almost 2 million km squared, with a population of over 100 million people.

Nicaragua however covers an area of 130,000 km squared, with a population of just over 5 million people.

As you can see, the difference in size between the two countries is huge, but the largest country in Central America is dependent on how Central America is defined.
