Thanks for the fair warning. I still like the directories but as you say, there are another alternatives to promote your own backlinks.

I have had results with forum posting and blog posting. I am going to be doing a test on link directories. I am going to submit 3 pages to a diff rent amount of link directories to see if submitting to them actually makes a difference.

Article marketing really doesn’t seem to be working that well anymore either. Blogs and forums are currently the best way to go, in my experience.
