Wow – Another PageRank Update

By Simon Under Pagerank

Well I headed over to DigitalPoint Forums for my daily visit and noticed an insane amount of threads in the Google section regarding PageRank. It only took me a few seconds to realise that there had been a PageRank update – and I came out on top.

As you might have noticed, this blog is now standing at PR 3. Although this is pretty good for a 2 month old blog and domain, I think that it should have been higher. I have multiple PR7 and PR6 links pointing to this blog, but oh well.

PageRank 3

PageRank 3

I also realised that my soccer site has received a PR 2 up from a PR 0. This didn’t surprise me, but what did surprise me was the internal PageRank of both of these sites. I did almost no link building to inner pages, yet I have many pages on this blog with internal PageRank and almost all of the pages on my soccer site with PageRank, including one page (that had no promotion) with a PageRank higher than that of the homepage. So I don’t know how that works, but I won’t complain.

As usual, some blogs and sites got slapped, some remained the same and others increased.

Those who got hit:
Namepros.com – Down to PR 5
Godaddy.com – down to PR 6
JohnCow.com – Down to PR 3
JohnChow.com – Down to PR 3
Entrepreneurs-Journey.com – Down to PR 5
TheNetFool.com – Down to PR 3

Those who remained the same:
Balkhis.com
TheUniversityKid.com
Blueverse.com

I really wasn’t expecting the PageRank update for another month but hey, I’m happy with it. Mutt Cutt’s was expecting it though (he seems to always be right).

How did you fare in the PageRank update?

Yeah, I was surprised by the Pagerank update today. Somehow my blog went from a PR 4 to a PR 5. I honestly don’t know how I even got a 4 in the first place, nevermind the 5. I do not link building, well, at least nothing I go out of my way to do. I just go with the flow…
Heck, even my small proxy connected to my site (about 15 visits a day, no promotion) went from a PR 0 to a PR 3. Many of my internal pages are now a PR 3 and 4 too.

Good stuff.

[...] Wow Another Pagerank Update – Yup there was a PR Update. Nothing major for me as all my sites stayed the same. Balkhis main page PR was the same, but I gained internal PR on a lot of pages. My Proxy Site increased in PR that is all for me. Let me know how it went for you. [...]

I was pleasantly surprised too…my new blog went from 0 to 4 and its only a month old. I’m surprised it went so high so fast. But I don’t pay much attention to PR anyway. I have sites with really low PR that still make me money.

Yes true, even I saw changes to many of my newest blogs. Some of them went from PR3 to PR4, PR3 to PR2 and PR2 and PR1 – looks like progressive increase.

Congrats on your PR3 and the fact that you did it on 2 months proves that you are doing all the right thing…

Thanks – the key is simply hard work (and an Internal PageRank checker)

I have to look into the new algorithm or at least people’s theories on it. I don’t think 1 month old blogs should be getting PR 3 or 4. Something’s wrong here.

One of my sites went from PR 0 to PR 3. And my other one went from PR 0 to PR N/A. Both sites are around 2 months old. The funny thing is my site with more hits (1,000/day) is the one with PR N/A. Weird.

My website went from a pagerank of 0 to a pagerank of 5 in a month so I was pretty pleased with the update.

@Tycoon: You are right, the pagerank of a website should be taken very lightly. I have another website with a pagerank of 4 and it only receives 30 unique visitors per day. I only got a pagerank of 4 because it has no-follow backlinks on good websites.

Simon, Congrats on your blog’s PR promtion. My blog remained at PR3. Yeah I’m surprise too at the PR update being so fast from the previous. Well Google is at times unpredictable. Anyway, PR is just a number but very useful for your advertising opportunities.

Apparently there has been another PageRank update over the past few days which is strange

There was another update in the last few days or there’s a glitch as several sites I visit have gone to PR n/a. It seems they’re rolling out another update or never completed the first.
